To strengthen family cohesion through the use of traditional storytelling to pass down family history, customs and culture from generation to generation and, to showcase the Cultural Arts Center, Center City Park and downtown Greensboro.
For thousands of years our family values, customs, history, and beliefs were passed down in the form of stories. Around the dinner table, at family gatherings and public events knowledge was passed from one generation to another. With the coming of radio, movies, tv and video games this vital link has been broken.
Our festival not only attempts to preserve the traditions of storytelling but to rekindle the family cohesion engendered by storytelling in all its forms by reaching out to our varied cultural backgrounds and understanding how we came to be what we are.

The NC Storyfest is a family oriented, multicultural, multigenerational event
That is FREE for all ages. Donations are encouraged.
This is not for children only. If you enjoy storytellers like Garrison Keillor, Andy Griffith and Bill Cosby, you will love this festival. The renewed popularity of storytelling is directly attributable to the influx of tellers who not only tell traditional stories but write and perform their own stories.
This is a family event. Children must be accompanied by parents or a responsible adult.
The event will take place from 12PM (noon) until 5PM in the Greensboro Public Library, the Music Practice Room on the lower level of the Cultural Arts Building, The Price-Bryan Performance Place (Festival Park) and the auditorium in the Greensboro Historical Museum. Please see the schedule for performers appearances.
There is plenty of FREE parking as all onstreet parking and the 3 nearby decks are free on weekends.
